Together with Lewis we are doing work for ‘Forbidden Planet Theatre’, which require brochure for they, plays in the Bath Egg Theatre, also they would like us to design tickets in the form of boarding pass. We attended to the meeting with client, which explained to us what his expectations are and promised to send some of the content for brochure. We have looked at their website which gave us a clue what they are all about. We have an idea of doing the brochure in the early since-fiction style, with Graphics being inspired by those kinds of movies and moon landing. I have almost finished boarding pass and worked on some graphics for brochure. 

Another Job is for college and that’s form of brochure/college prospectus with information’s about some of the courses. We thought that there would be more photography work involved but college owns library of images done by students. So they are looking really more for brochure design, which includes layouts and choice of font, which works with college identity.

First project give us more freedom and is more creative when another one is more formal. Both will be good to have in our portfolio.

Since I have set up my blog I was very busy with few photography and designing jobs.

First one was to design menu for café. It was very easy and did not included many designing skills as they have been looking for simple menu but in the same time menu which style fit into the café. It was unpaid work but has achieved client satisfaction.

Then I was asked to re-design menu for Opium bar. I have complete designing work but then some more changes have been made in content of menu and I have decided that I don’t have time to start with everything again and complete work which I have done and this work can go to my portfolio anyway.

I have been taking some photographs of the Pantry-grocery shop to be used in advertisement section in Bath Life.

I have done photography work for the place where I work which included product, interior/exterior photography, There were also few things to design, like: loyalty card, business card and brochures used for advertisement. Some of the images have been used on the business website and websites that contains advertisements for different businesses. All this work will give me experience with advertisement in my future business. 

Today we have had a chance listen to lecture of Tom Maurice. He runs the Graphic Agency ‘Sun House Creative’ which brand products and businesses. He was telling us how important in employment are skills. Becoming really good in one of the categories brings up our chance to get job in the field which we are interested in. There were some questions about doing the third year of course, which will take us to BA qualification in Graphic Communication, however he made his point about doing course, which will be important for the job, which we want to do. Also he mention how important is to get portfolio, which represent clever ideas and solutions. In taking job in illustration field important is good representation of style, possible few styles. In most of agency work all effort goes to help businesses target they audience. Sometimes they don’t expect the first quality job. To get most of the jobs, not only in graphic field very important are updates on the business website, so it feels almost like a blog. Its show perfectly how business develops and shows work, which we do for clients. Good Client name could also advertise our business. It also applies to my art gallery idea. Working with well-known artists makes names of art galleries better known and more attractive.  Designing work for client, as any kind of dealing with client is about compromise and including his point of view in our work. Dealing with any project in the gallery or with client need understanding of market. Is good to include in our idea of business, design or any kind of work how this category will develop during the time while work on any of them. Costing that’s always complicate routine. In my case art costing depend on client work, which I will sell. Cost of tea depends on the price of the product.

Quo vadis?

My main interests that's art, photography and tea. I have done few art courses but I couldn't work out how to place myself in potential employment categories. Those days everything is going digital, even art. For this reason I have decided to do Digital Design course. I have learned quiet many things from web designing to graphics but the closest to me have been photography. Especially fine art photography. However all those things which I have learned will be very helpful in the future with mine own business. I have decided to go back to Poland and open art gallery with tea place with tea from around the world. I am going to have their exhibitions of artwork and photography. I hope to get as many contacts as many is possible, so people from different countries would like to view they work in mine gallery which will be open as a tea place in the some time. Place will be open for authors meetings and different kind of events. The knowledge, which I aimed during the course, will help me to promote the place and activities, which will take their place.

To get some more experience in this field I took a job in the teashop called 'Tea Time. It is very good experience as I took responsibility for promoting campaign which include: business card design, postcard design, loyalty card design, taking pictures for website and possibly redisgning logo. I have done lots of research on the market, which is a lot different than market in Poland. However it will give me experience of dealing with problems.
